Manhattan Park update

Great weather once again! Thank you Alger Bikes and Brian Walquist for the course work yesterday. We had a few folks in the Halloween spirit and Josh Duggan took first male with the tree scape costume complete with a squirrel and Danielle Musto took first with Captain America. We had quite a few errors during scoring in the B races yesterday due to some errant reads from Lowell 50 timing chips. The internet results should be correct now. Todays move up’s include Steve Kunnath, Pat Kulwicki, Max Anthes, John Hubbard and Bob Lalley.

Good luck at Iceman, we’ll see you in two weeks!

Cascade Park transformed

My apologies to the A racers that had to endure the bandit sand trap mound. If anyone reading this think that they can alter the course between races, you’re very wrong. Many people crashed due to this unfortunate event. One person ripped a derailleur off. If you would like to pay for his equipment, let me know, I will keep it anonymiss.

Thanks go out to Pete Hall for the great course layout and the TNR that set up the wickedness. Chad Rector also contributed the awesome Request Foods lasagna. thanks Chad!

This weeks move ups include Matt Acker, Doug Wise, Charlie Pike and Mike Lacy

Next event is Oct 27th at Manhattan Park in EGR. Always a good time there. Brian Walquist and Alger Bikes will handle the course plans, so head to the shop for you input ;-). This is the Halloween race- we will award for best costume men and women!

What a day at Richmond Park!

Overnight rains barely made a wet spot on the super dry soil at the park. The sun came out, cool temps, baked potatoes, the Lions won and the Founders Racing Team set up one long, wicked, technical course. Check out Jacks pictures for an idea of what was out there. Thanks for coming out and supporting Kisscross!

Plaster Creek follow up

Thanks again to Rapid Wheelmen and Village Bike Shops for the awesome course and wonderful food, you guys do it up right. If you missed the race, we announced and awarded Jack Kunnen his donation check. Thank you to everyone that contributed, I appreciate it and I know Jack did too!

Time for move up notices. The following need to move up one class:  Keean Mansour, Sherry Grimard, Paul Bybee, Scott Walburn.

Don’t forget this weekends race is on Saturday!

Our only Saturday race of the season, hope to see you there.

A while back I started this fundraiser for Jack Kunnen. Well I am letting the cat out of the bag on Facebook and this site now, that means Jack will see what we have been up to. We have reached our goal but could use more if you missed out. We will present a check to Jack at the race this weekend for all his generosity and photo contributions to the cycling community of West Michigan and beyond. Please donate today if you have not contributed already, thanks!

Free cross bike demo’s!

Do you wonder how much of an advantage a cross bike would be over you mtb at a Kisscross race? Or do you just want to try a sweet steel frame cross bike vs your harsh aluminum one? Central District Cyclery has the following demos available; 53cm and a 58cm all-city macho man rim brake, and a 53cm macho man disc. Nate also has one Velocity disc demo wheelset that is available to demo. The velocity is the new do-all hubset on a23′s in a comp build.
Stop on in, say hi to Nate Phelps and ask about the Kisscross Free Demo and you could use a bike or a wheelset.
They will be open Friday and Saturday 10-8,  so someone could easily hit the shop before and after.

A new attendance record?

Kisscross had 197 registered racers today! This could be a new record, we’ll have to dig deep to find out but we’ll let you know. Sunny and warm weather greeted everyone today and the Freewheeler Team laid out a wicked hard course for the first one of the year. Complete results under the results tab or in the kisscross#1 txt document.

Season Pass link is live!

Series discount, new classes!

Thanks for all the comments and replys to our ideas about some changes. In the end, not much is going to change, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it! We will not change the category order or tabulate season points. I just couldn’t figure out a way to tabluate points due to people having to move up a class when they win and it would only promote more sandbagging. The good news is we will create an on-line season pass registration site soon. Purchase all seven races for a $30 savings. $145 per season vs the $175 for pay as you go.

We will also add a SS class to the B Men only and a 40+ Veterens class to the A group!

The schedule as also been updated.

4 weeks!

Biggest turnout of the year!? I am convinced you are all a bunch of cross sissies! You are obviously fair weather racers. Just kidding, I loved it too, who wouldn’t enjoy 50 degrees in December. Thank you Velo City Cycles and Hup United for the great new course, I think we have a keeper. I’d like to take this time to thank all the volunteers, teams for set up and racers for a good season, we had fun this year. Cheers and Happy Holidays. Now let’s all think snow so we can race Fat Bikes and get some good skiing in!
